WHY YOUR GUT MATTERS

Your body is shaped by microbes.

Your body is home to trillions of microorganisms that play a critical role in digestion, immunity, mood, and stress response. While your DNA is fully human, the number of microbial genes in and on your body vastly exceeds your own  making the gut microbiome a powerful biological system.

When your gut ecosystem is out of balance, everything feels off.
When it’s supported, your whole body performs better.

  • Around 70% of the immune system is linked to the gut
  • Microbial genes outnumber human genes by ~100:1
  • The gut produces around 90% of the body’s serotonin
  • A strong gut barrier helps reduce irritation and systemic stress
  • The gut lining renews itself every 3–5 days, requiring constant nutritional and microbial support
  • The gut communicates directly with the brain via the vagus nerve (gut–brain axis)
  • A stable microbiome supports nutrient absorption and metabolic efficiency

2FX has been evaluated for cytotoxicity, red-blood-cell lysis and irritation testing. Under the tested conditions, the material showed no cytotoxic effect and no relevant irritation signals.

THE 2FX® MECHANISM

Neutralizing unwanted microbes starts by neutralizing adhesion.

Unlike conventional antimicrobial approaches, 2FX® works through a physical anti-adhesion mechanism.
Its polysaccharide complex interacts with microbial adhesion structures, reducing the ability of susceptible unwanted microorganisms to attach to mucosal surfaces.
By lowering that pressure, 2FX® helps create a better environment to restore balance and optimize your gut ecosystem.

Backed by Independent In-Vivo Science

In collaboration with Vivaltes, an independent research organization specialized in advanced biological models, the 2FX-Complex® has been extensively studied,

Vivaltes uses nematode-based in-vivo models (such as C. elegans), a globally accepted research standard for studying host–microbe interactions, gut barrier integrity, and microbial colonization in a controlled, ethical, and highly reproducible way.

These models are designed to closely simulate real biological host–microbe interactions and gut-barrier behavior. The research consistently shows:

  •  2FX reduces harmful bacterial colonization by limiting microbial adhesion and overgrowth,
  • Supports beneficial microbes selectively, without disrupting healthy species
  • Strengthens intestinal barrier function, contributing to a more resilient gut lining
  • Shows no toxicity or adverse effects, even with repeated exposure
Key Biological Effects of 2FX-Complex®
Finding 1
Reduces Harmful Bacterial Colonization
Why it matters

The gut is a competitive ecosystem. Unwanted microorganisms can use adhesion structures to attach to mucosal surfaces, helping them persist and accumulate.

Limiting this process is an important part of the science behind 2FX®.

Scientific summary

In independent in-vivo research conducted by Vivaltes, the 2FX-related polysaccharide complex was associated with reduced intestinal bacterial colonization in C. elegans.

Using fluorescently labelled bacteria, researchers observed lower colonization under several treatment conditions, with the clearest effects generally appearing around Day 7.

Additional experiments with Salmonella enterica and Pseudomonas aeruginosa provided further evidence that the complex can influence pathogen colonization in this living model.

These findings support the anti-adhesion mechanism underlying 2FX® and its potential role in influencing microbial competition within the gut ecosystem.

Finding 2
Microbial balance depends on the ecosystem.
Why it matters

A healthy gut is not bacteria-free. It is an ecosystem where different microorganisms compete for space and resources.

Supporting balance means understanding how an intervention influences this microbial competition, rather than simply eliminating bacteria indiscriminately.

Scientific summary

Independent Vivaltes research investigated how the polysaccharide complex influences microbial competition in mixed-microbiome models.

  • In a model containing E. coli OP50 and Streptococcus uberis, treatment with the S47 polysaccharide preparation increased intestinal OP50 levels on Day 5.
  • In a separate model containing OP50 and Pseudomonas aeruginosa, S47 reduced intestinal pathogen levels on Days 5 and 7.
  • Other bacterial combinations showed no statistically significant change.

Together, these findings suggest that the complex can influence microbial competition in a context-dependent manner, supporting Pyour's approach to the gut as a living ecosystem.

Finding 3
Exploring intestinal barrier resilience.
Why it matters

Your gut barrier is your body’s first line of defense. When this barrier weakens, due to aging, stress, or microbial pressure, the gut becomes more vulnerable to irritation, leakage, and systemic stress that can affect digestion, immunity, and overall resilience.

Supporting barrier integrity is essential for long-term gut health.

Scientific summary

In intestinal permeability assays (the “Smurf” test). The Smurf test visualizes gut barrier strength.Less leakage means a more resilient gut lining. In-vivo models exposed to the 2FX-Complex® showed reduced intestinal leakage under specific conditions.

The strongest effects were observed in models simulating aging in a liquid environment, where 2FX exposure resulted in a more stable and resilient gut barrier compared to controls.

Finding 4
Proven Safe for Daily Support
Why it matters:

Your gut ecosystem responds to consistency, not single doses. Effective microbiome support must be gentle enough for daily use and stable over time, without stressing the system.

Scientific summary:
  • In-vivo studies show that continuous, preventive exposure to the 2FX-Complex delivers the strongest and most stable effects.
  • Extensive safety evaluations demonstrate no toxicity, no reduction in lifespan, and no adverse biological effects when 2FX is present, even with repeated exposure.
THE KEY FINDINGS

A different approach to gut ecosystem science.

Independent in-vivo research by Vivaltes investigated how the polysaccharide complex influences bacterial colonization, microbial competition and intestinal barrier function.

The scientific principle

A healthier ecosystem starts with the right environment.

What the research revealed

01

Less unwanted bacterial buildup

Reduced intestinal colonization across multiple experiments, including tested Salmonella and Pseudomonas strains.

02

Beneficial bacteria gain ground

Favoured beneficial E. coli in a mixed microbiome model, while reducing unwanted Pseudomonas in a separate model.

03

Promising gut barrier support

Less intestinal leakage under specific conditions, suggesting potential support for barrier resilience.

04

Before buildup takes hold

Earlier, sustained exposure was more likely to influence colonization than treatment after it was established.

THE SCIENTIFIC TAKEAWAY

Don't just add more. Create the right environment.
By targeting microbial adhesion and supporting the conditions in which beneficial microbes can thrive, Pyour takes an ecosystem-first approach to gut health.

What studies have been conducted on the 2FX-Complex and Pyour?

Pyour is built on decades of microbiome research centered around the patented 2FX-Complex. The mechanism behind 2FX was developed through medical-grade research and has since been used safely in regulated medical devices such as Multi Gyn, Multi-Mam, PoxClin, and HemoClin, reaching millions of users worldwide.

More recently, independent laboratory in-vivo research was conducted by Vivaltes, focusing on the interaction between the polysaccharide complex and microbial behavior in intestinal models.

Pyour Detox  was a product with 100mg 2FX, psyllium husk (2g) and inuline (1g) was evaluated in 2012 as a Class IIa medical device in a large human evaluation involving 263 participants.

Together, these studies form the scientific foundation of Pyour.

What do these studies show?

Across multiple laboratory experiments, the 2FX-Complex was consistently associated with lower levels of unwanted bacterial colonization and a more favorable microbial balance. The data showed that the complex helps reduce microbial pressure while allowing beneficial bacteria to thrive.

Microscopy images and microbiome experiments demonstrated clear visual and quantitative differences between control conditions and those exposed to the complex, supporting its role in shaping a healthier gut environment.

In the Pyour Detox human evaluation, participants reported improvements in digestive comfort and bowel regularity, supporting the real-world relevance of the underlying mechanism.

What type of research was performed and how strong is the evidence?

The scientific foundation behind Pyour is built on a layered research approach that includes in vitro laboratory studies, in vivo model research, and human evaluation data. This type of stepwise evidence generation is standard in microbiome science, where controlled models are used to understand mechanisms before translating insights into human use.

The core mechanism, 2FX, has also been applied for years in regulated over the counter medical device products within self care, supporting conditions related to microbial imbalance. These products have reached millions of users worldwide, providing extensive real world safety and usage experience.

While Pyour is not positioned as a pharmaceutical product, the available research offers a strong mechanistic rationale for how the 2FX Complex interacts with microbes in a targeted and gentle way. This allows Pyour to be firmly science based without making medical claims.

Why is 2FX different from antibiotics or bactericidal substances?

Antibiotics work by killing bacteria, affecting both harmful and beneficial strains. This can disrupt the microbiome and contribute to resistance over time.

The 2FX-Complex works differently. It is a high-molecular polysaccharide that interacts physically with harmful microbes, limiting their ability to attach to epithelial surfaces and encouraging clustering so they can be naturally cleared by the body.

Instead of destroying bacteria, 2FX helps reduce harmful microbial pressure while leaving beneficial bacteria intact. This selective, non-destructive mechanism is what makes it fundamentally different.

Is the 2FX-Complex safe for daily use?

Yes. The 2FX-Complex has a long history of safe use in regulated medical devices that are applied repeatedly and, in some cases, daily. These products have been used for years across multiple countries and populations.

Because 2FX does not kill bacteria or interfere with metabolic pathways, but instead works through physical interaction, it is considered a gentle and well-tolerated mechanism. Pyour translates this established safety profile into a daily gut ecosystem formula designed for long-term use.

Why does Pyour combine 2FX with prebiotics, probiotics, and postbiotics?

The gut functions as an ecosystem, not a single pathway. While probiotics and nutrients can support gut health, they often struggle to be effective if the environment is already dominated by harmful microbes.

In Pyour, 2FX plays a foundational role by helping create space in the gut ecosystem. Prebiotics, probiotics, postbiotics, vitamins, minerals, and botanicals are then added to support nourishment, diversity, and resilience.

This combination reflects the Pyour Quarter Model: Clear, Restore, Feed, Optimize. Each component has a role, but the system works because the foundation is addressed first.

How does Pyour ensure quality, consistency, and purity?

Pyour is developed with the same mindset that guided its medical device origins. Ingredients are carefully selected, batches are controlled, and quality standards are applied throughout production. 2FX is produced under the widely accepted norm ISO13485 and Pyour is manufactured under FSSC 22000 for food safety. Pyour is also NZVT certified for athletes.

The formulation is designed to be consistent from batch to batch, ensuring that the mechanism and supporting components work as intended. This focus on quality is essential when working with complex biological systems like the microbiome, where precision matters.
